How do you see the ideal children’s room? Filled with light, joy and an atmosphere of creativity? As our child grow up, what they were delighted with yesterday may no longer be appropriate and cause rejection today. Therefore, "children's design" requires special attention and approach. Here are five simple steps to help you create a room that will grow with your children at no extra cost.
Step 1. Zoning the space
You need to start decorating a child's room with the correct zoning. What does this mean? This is when it is clear at first glance, where the little ones sleep, play or are engaged in creativity, and do their homework. Have a clear plan and follow it.
Storage for children's things should not be a separate area, but separate pieces of storage furniture near their place of use.
Step 2. Go for neutral colours
When choosing the paint colour for a room, it is worth considering that children are more sensitive to colour than adults. It is important to remember that the colour of the walls is only a background and a base for the rest of the interior. Psychologists believe that the wrong colour can cause anxiety, hyper-excitability and even aggression.
White, light grey or pastel shades work best. You don't have to worry about monotony, since you can always add bright accessories to the interior, thereby making the children's space unique. So that the room is not too boring, create an erasable board, which the kids can use for drawing and writing without causing any damage.
Better not to make the nursery too bright, the child will get tired of the intense colours
Step 3. Use the temporary décor elements
As you know, the image is formed from a sum of the details. The decor will serve as a "magic wand" that, without violating the integrity of the design and without making global changes, will fill the children's room with the charm of fairy-tale plots, and create an atmosphere of travel and distant wanderings. Accentuate the textiles of curtains and pillows, adding posters with your favourite characters will add freshness and help change the atmosphere for the better.
Step 4. Select furniture that grows with the child
Parents do not begrudge anything for their beloved children, but it is worth giving up the "princess house" bed or car bed, which the little ones will be delighted with, but within a few years your child will outgrow them. Ideal furniture colours are white, grey or bleached wood. They are absolutely neutral and can be combined with any colour, suit any style and do not overload the interior visually.
Storage systems and places of "residence" for toys is one of the most important parts of children's space. With the right storage system, children quickly learn how to arrange things properly, and it will be much easier to keep the room tidy.
Do not clutter up the usable space, allow more room for train tracks and tea parties. Before you buy a beautiful floor lamp or a giant bear, think: are they really needed that much? Try to save space as much as possible: make the best use of the wall space with shelves, built-in furniture, hooks and hanging sections - thereby freeing up more floor space.

Step 5. Let there be light!
Lighting in a children’s room directly affects the mood and health of the child. Ideally, there are three main light sources: a ceiling light, a bed light, and a desk light. Avoid abrupt transitions from light to shade, this makes the space visually smaller, and negatively affects the children’s health, causing a whole range of problems. The light should be diffused, so use lamps with dimmers.
Natural light is essential for wellbeing to better child development and learning.
